BPC-157
A gastric pentadecapeptide with regenerative and cytoprotective properties; not FDA-approved and with minimal human clinical data.
Preclinical studies across small rodent models consistently demonstrate that BPC-157 promotes healing in tendon, ligament, muscle, bone, skin, and gastrointestinal injuries, with no adverse effects reported across several organ systems. However, human data are extremely limited: only three pilot studies have examined BPC-157 in humans, including intra-articular knee pain, interstitial cystitis, and intravenous safety/pharmacokinetics, with no rigorous large-scale clinical trials conducted. The compound has not been approved by the FDA or other global regulatory authorities due to the absence of sufficient clinical studies. It was temporarily banned by WADA in 2022 and remains banned in professional sports. The primary safety concerns stem from unregulated manufacturing, potential contamination, and unknown clinical safety in humans.
