§ 04 — SCIENCE

Extensive preclinical and in vitro evidence demonstrates broad pharmacological activity of black seed oil and thymoquinone, including anticancer, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. Several animal studies show reversal of depression-like behavior and metabolic impairments via hypothalamic mitochondrial markers. Clinical evidence remains limited, with most human trials being small and heterogeneous in design. A 2025 comprehensive review highlighted that despite significant pharmacological promise, black cumin and TQ remain far from clinical application due to insufficient large-scale randomized controlled trials. Safety data indicate general tolerability, though allergic contact dermatitis has been reported with topical use.
