4-Pro-Met is a novel synthetic cathinone with very limited published pharmacological or toxicological data. Its effects are extrapolated from structurally related cathinones such as 4-methylmethcathinone (4-MMC/mephedrone). No controlled human studies exist, and all dose and duration estimates are derived from anecdotal reports and structure-activity relationships. The serotonergic component may differentiate it from pure dopaminergic stimulants, but the exact transporter selectivity profile is unknown. Acute cardiovascular and psychiatric risks are presumed similar to other synthetic cathinones.
