2C-B
A synthetic phenethylamine psychedelic with visual, entactogenic, and mild stimulant effects, structurally related to mescaline.
An observational study in 16 healthy volunteers confirmed that oral 2C-B (10-20 mg) increases blood pressure and heart rate while inducing euphoria, perceptual changes, and mild hallucinations, with peak plasma concentration at approximately 1 hour. A comparative study found that 2C-B and psilocybin similarly distort episodic familiarity during memory encoding, suggesting shared neurocognitive mechanisms across psychedelics. Case reports highlight dangers of misidentification, such as 2C-P being sold as 2C-B, leading to severe toxicity due to higher potency and longer duration. The illicit 'tusi' phenomenon further complicates the landscape, as products sold as 2C-B rarely contain it. Pharmacokinetic and toxicological data remain limited, with most evidence derived from case reports and a single controlled human study.
