An observational study of ten recreational users found that oral 2C-E at doses of 6.5-25 mg produced psychedelic-like effects including perceptual alterations, hallucinations, and euphoric mood changes, with maximal saliva concentrations at 2 hours. A case report documented fatal toxic leukoencephalopathy following 2C-E overdose, showing selective diffuse injury of cerebral white matter. A mass poisoning event involving 29 individuals who consumed 2C-E combined with Bromo-DragonFly resulted in severe intoxication, with some patients requiring mechanical ventilation. Metabolic studies indicate 2C-E undergoes hydroxylation and N-acetylation, with interindividual differences due to CYP enzyme polymorphisms. Evidence remains limited to case reports and a single small observational study, with no controlled clinical trials.
