§ 04 — SCIENCE

A 2015 systematic review of 15 studies found that acute tyrosine loading counteracted decrements in working memory and information processing induced by demanding conditions such as extreme weather or high cognitive load, but showed no significant effects on exercise performance. Animal research demonstrates that tyrosine accelerates catecholamine synthesis and increases blood pressure in hemorrhaged hypotensive rats, an effect blocked by carbidopa. Evidence for benefit in healthy, non-stressed individuals is weak; most studies involve single acute doses in small samples. Long-term chronic supplementation studies are lacking.
